Title IX

The Auburn-Washburn School District, USD #437, does not discriminate against any applicant, employee, or student in the admission or access to educational programs, activities, or employment on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, marital status, veteran status, gender, age, or the presence of a non-job related medical condition or disability.

Auburn-Washburn is committed to fostering an environment free from discrimination on the basis of sex. The District's policies and procedures for addressing reports and complaints of sex-based discrimination (including sexual harassment) are intended to comply with Title IX and its regulations. To the extent that they conflict with Title IX or its regulations, Title IX and its regulations will control.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Title IX is a federal law that states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces Title IX.

The Auburn-Washburn Board of Education has adopted policies to ensure compliance with Title IX Regulations. See BOE Policies GAAC, JGEC, GAAB.
