Discovery Kindergarten is a FREE, fun program for incoming Kindergarten students from any school! Children will get to go to the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with their caregiver for a special simulated kindergarten classroom with teachers to learn how to prepare for the first day of school.

Have you signed up for our Summer Reading Challenge? A few enthusiastic readers have already completed it! 🤩 Kids, teens and adults can all earn prizes for logging their reading! Kids and teens earn different prizes for every 2 hours of reading up to 8 hours. Adults earn a prize at three books and 6 books.
Prizes are available while supplies last.

Summer 2025 Volleyball Camp:
Parents, is your living room starting to look like a volleyball court?
Is your daughter using your decorative pillows for bump practice and your dog as a blocker?
Send her to the 2025 Volleyball Camp at Washburn Rural High School and save your home (and your sanity)!
🏐 Camp Details:
- When: July 14–17 (Mon–Thurs)
- Where: Washburn Rural High School
- Who: Girls entering 3rd–8th grade
- Cost: $65 (includes a t-shirt, snacks, insurance, and four days of tired kids!)
🕒 Times:
- 3rd–6th grade: 1:00–2:30 PM
- 7th–8th grade: 2:30–4:30 PM
Camp includes serving, setting, hitting, blocking, defense—and most importantly, learning not to spike the remote control.

🌟 Addie Heffren brings joy, imagination, and heart to the classroom each day. She is a friend to many, with her vibrant personality, love of dramatic play, and caring nature making her a treasured part of the classroom community. "Much of Addie's growth has been supported by the strong involvement of her parents, who are active partners in both her education and our early childhood program," said Early Childhood Director Loralea Hubert. We are proud to recognize her with the Shining Star Student Award.
