The Auburn-Washburn Board of Education has reached an agreement with Dr. Katie Collier to serve as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Collier currently serves as Deputy Superintendent of Blue Valley School District and brings more than 30 years of experience in public education. She was selected following a comprehensive national search that included extensive community input.

Our kindergarteners wrapped up their sunlight and weather science unit with a special visit from meteorologist Mitchell Keyes from WIBW 13 News. Students loved learning about how weather forecasts are made, the tools meteorologists use, and how scientists track sunshine, clouds, and storms. It was the perfect way to bring our weather learning to life! Thank you for visiting and inspiring our young scientists! 🌤️🔬

Today our second grade classes discovered the colorful world beneath their feet while exploring minerals! Students learned what minerals are, where they come from, and how scientists classify them. They were also introduced to a rainbow of different minerals and had the chance to get hands-on with real mineral specimens.
To wrap up the experience, students created their own bookmarks using mineral-based paints—a fun and creative way to bring science and art together! 🌈🔬🎨
