Today we welcomed back the graduating class of 2026 as they walked the halls of Auburn Elementary one more time—-this time in their caps and gowns. 🎓

Seeing these familiar faces reminded us just how quickly time passes and how proud we are of all they have accomplished. It feels like yesterday they were sitting in these classrooms dreaming about the future.

Congratulations, seniors! Thank you for coming back to inspire our younger students and remind them that big goals start right here. We can’t wait to see where your next chapter takes you. 💙

May 11th was Auburn Elementary's Battle of the Books. We had 6 teams, two from third, fourth, and fifth grade. It was the first time our third and fourth graders had ever been in the competition. All teams did well and had so much fun. The winners of this year's Battle were a third-grade group named the Speed Reads. They even battled it out against our staff. We are so proud of them.

Last week, our Major Saver top contributors received a free limo ride/pizza party! Way to go, Wildcats! Thank you to all who helped Auburn-Washburn USD 437!!

Today our 5th Grade Leadership Group had the special opportunity to visit a local retirement home - The Homestead of Auburn- and spend time with its patrons.

Students led games, patiently taught the rules, and shared conversation prompts that opened the door to some truly meaningful storytelling. From laughter over game moves to curious questions about childhoods, careers, and life lessons, the room was filled with connection in its purest form.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder of the value of intergenerational relationships. When children and older adults come together, something beautiful happens—perspective is widened, stories are honored, and both groups leave a little lighter than they came. Our students practiced leadership in the most authentic way: serving others, listening well, and making space for joy.

We are so proud of these young leaders for the kindness, respect, and curiosity they brought into every interaction.
