Read the Book, Watch the Movie

The library has some old DVDs that haven’t been used in years. Instead of discarding them we are trying something new. There will now be a few containers of books and movies paired together. There are all reading levels of books. Hopefully this will encourage a few reluctant readers to give a book a try. I wasn’t sure how many students would have access to DVD players, but news to me, they can be played on many gaming devices! If you have any questions email me, Lindsay Kufahl, at kufahlin@usd437.net. Happy reading!

This was a special day for staff and students! They loved the time they spent at Thornton Place! 💚🦊

If this doesn’t warm your heart heading into Spring Break, we don't know what will! Kindergarten students from Farley Elementary School and their 4th-grade buddies delivered cards and donation bags to the residents of Holiday Thornton Place earlier this week. They spent the morning playing cards and board games, building meaningful connections with the residents and fostering intergenerational bonds that will have a lasting impact. Learn more at the video link in the comments.

Wow! Farley kids are staying active! 💪🏽🏃🏽🏃🏽‍♀️

Here are the 3rd quarter P.E. stats by grade level. We utilize Heart Tech Plus monitors almost every day in class. Students have been learning about their heart rate zones and figuring out which activities boost their heart rates the most. They can also have friendly competitions against each other regarding their steps and points. Students earn points every minute they’re in a different heart rate zone. We use five heart rate zones in P.E.

Blue Zone = 50%-60% of their max heart rate (MHR)
Green Zone = 60%-70% MHR
Yellow Zone = 70%-80% MHR
Orange Zone = 80%-90% MHR
Red Zone = 90%-100% MHR

Most steps in one class:
Wyatt Francis- 5,876
Dalton Lippold- 4,412
Keaton Cox- 4,222
Dezmir Morriz- 4,154
Joel Adams- 4,140

Most steps in a quarter (by grade level):
2nd Grade- Dalton Lippold- 34,660
3rd Grade- Kyson Kerr- 50,708
4th Grade- Evelynn Jimmerson- 25,670
