🐾 FUN FACT WEDNESDAY! 🐾

Throwing it back to 1998!

Did you know Auburn Elementary teacher Janet Hards received the prestigious Milken Educator Award?

Mrs. Hards was a 4th-grade teacher at AE and was recognized for her innovative approach to teaching. One of her projects used quilting to teach Kansas history, math, fractions, geometry, and art!

But what exactly is the Milken Educator Award?

Often called the “Oscars of Teaching,” it is one of the nation’s most prestigious honors for educators. Teachers don’t apply or nominate themselves—they are selected through a confidential process based on their teaching, leadership, innovation, and impact on students.
And in 1998, Mrs. Hards was one of only four educators in Kansas selected to receive it! 💙💛

Do you remember Mrs. Hards? We’d love to hear your memories in the comments!

In today’s episode of “Kids Say the Darndest Things…”

“Those lunch ladies gave me TREES today, and didn’t give me any ranch dressing!”

“You got lines on your forehead, just like my Nana.”

“How do your parents take care of you? They help you! They also help you take down the polar bears in your bedroom!”

And our personal favorite…

A kiddo puts a ball in their shirt at recess:
“Man, I don’t know how my Dad does it! This is awful.”

Kids really do keep us on our toes around here. 😂

Stay tuned… because we have a feeling there will be more.
