Information on Order to Delay School Reopening

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced this week a planned order to delay school reopening until after Labor Day due to the number of COVID-19 cases. This is generating a lot of questions among parents, staff, and administration. The Governor's order will not be available until the week of July 20. The district will be getting an update from the Kansas Department of Education and consulting with district leadership groups over the next couple days and will provide updates as information becomes available.

Much planning has taken place this summer, and Auburn-Washburn will be ready for a safe reopening as soon as the situation allows. The district is prepared for multiple phases with options for parents. You can see more information about reopening in a message shared recently. The full reopening plan will be shared by July 24. Registration and other preparations are proceeding as planned to ensure that we are ready to reopen.

We appreciate the incredible response we had to our recent Thoughtexchange and the beneficial feedback we received. The thoughts that were shared by parents are available and are displayed in order of the ratings received. Thank you to everyone who participated!
