Mentoring Program

Our first year teachers are provided with a mentor and a very supportive mentoring program. Our mentors are provided with extensive training and guidance to better help support our new teachers. First year teachers meet with mentors regularly to discuss strategies, best practices, solicit feedback, and collaborate.

Opportunities to Collaborate

All educators in Auburn-Washburn participate in Professional Learning Communities where student-focused collaboration thrives. Not only will new teachers find support in these groups, but their input will be highly valued. Early release dates are built into the school calendar to help provide these opportunities for collaboration.

Professional Development

Auburn-Washburn is dedicated to providing highly impactful, thoughtful professional development. Educators will find an array of options and support in our district. District-level professional learning days provide support and growth on district goals. Building-level professional learning days provide timely, and strategic opportunities to grow in your ability to support the students you see each day. Woven into this are online modules, funding for conferences, webinars, and other pathways for the individual teacher to continue their professional growth.

New Staff Academy

This is our version of a new hire orientation. New teachers to our district are provided with an overview and introduction to our curriculum, Professional Learning Communities (PLC's), professional development, district technology, benefits, and more. New teachers to our district also receive their building orientation during New Staff Academy. First year teachers receive an overview of the district mentor program and meet with their mentors.
