March 25, 3:30 PM
As you know, the Shawnee County Health Department has issued a Safer at Home Order for residents that goes into effect at 12:01 AM on Thursday, March 26. This order restricts travel outside the home by individuals, except for certain activities. Fortunately, Auburn-Washburn has been identified as an "essential organization," so we can continue with our commitments of meal distribution and the #keeplearning initiative.
We have an update to our meal distribution plan. We announced yesterday, March 24, that we were expanding meal distribution to Auburn Elementary and Washburn Rural High School today and to Indian Hills Elementary on Thursday.
We were able to begin at Auburn and WRHS today, but the Safer at Home order has caused a change in the plan to expand to Indian Hills on Thursday. Meal distribution at Indian Hills will not begin as planned due to the Safer at Home order.
So for now, grab and go meals are available free of charge to any child age 1 to 18 from these drive-up locations:
- Washburn Rural High School – 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
- Auburn Elementary (810 N Commercial St, Auburn) – 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
- Pauline Central (6625 SW Westview Rd) – 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
We will continue to explore the opportunity of expanding grab and go meals to additional schools. We will share an announcement as soon as plans are in place.
Please watch for additional messages from the district and your school concerning our continuous learning program and the meal distribution.
