Good afternoon Panther Parents and Guardians:

Posted 9/8/20, 8:18 PM
I hope this note finds you doing well after the extended weekend. We are now starting our second full week of having students in the building and it feels very good to be underway in doing school with this new format. We will continue to work towards creating a safe environment for students and staff as well as providing meaningful learning opportunities for all students. During the process we want to make sure that we are communicating with you as well as providing support for you at home. Please know how much we appreciate all that you are doing to help your child be successful at school.

A couple of items to make note of are the Learning logs and Free meals for all students. You will soon receive information on the Learning logs that parents across the state are being asked to help with for a couple of weeks. We will send home a packet of sheets that will have dates written on them as well as a sample sheet of how to fill them out before returning them to school. This will help accountability of our programming and will be linked to funding for our district and so in advance I would like to thank you for your support. For our Hybrid learners, the packets will be sent home and we will mail the packets home for our Remote learners. Again, there will be a more detailed description from our district but this is just a friendly notice to look for it. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact us at the school and we can help take you through it.

Starting today, all students in the state of Kansas will be eligible for free breakfast and lunch at school no matter what your socioeconomic status is. You should have received a message from our district with some greater details but I would like emphasize that even on the days that your child is not in school (excluding weekends) you can do a grab and go lunch and then breakfast for the next day between 10:30-11:15 in front of Pauline South. This is wonderful news and should make it much easier on parents.

A different food related item in regard to safety is that if you choose to send or bring treats to celebrate a birthday or different occasion that you would only be allowed to have premade individually wrapped items such as Little Debbie products. I know that cupcakes from a store are popular with the students and low maintenance but they would not be allowed either since they are not individually wrapped. I do apologize for any inconvenience but with so many of these items it will hopefully be just for this year.

Again, thank you for your constant support and please reach out to us if you have any questions.

Proud to be a Panther,
Chris Holman, Principal
