Thank you for your interest in Gifted Education in the Auburn Washburn School District. Gifted Education in Kansas is a part of Special Education and follows the Special Education processes and procedures. A K-12 student having the characteristics of giftedness and displaying a need that cannot be met in the regular education classroom, is referred to the Student Support Team. The Student Support Team collects data to determine need for testing. If district criteria are met for gifted services an Individualized Education Program (IEP) will be written.

The goal of the Auburn Washburn Gifted program is to provide each gifted student with an academically appropriate level of challenge.
KAR 91-40-1 (cc): Gifted means performing or demonstrating the potential for performing at significantly higher levels of accomplishment in one or more academic fields due to intellectual ability, when compared to others of similar age, experience or environment.
