The Auburn-Washburn Public Schools Foundation is once again sponsoring a discount card program. The program is a quick and easy campaign that
involves the selling of a Preferred Dining Card. It is a restaurant/entertainment discount card that sells for $10.00 and entitles the holder
to 15 buy-one-get-one free offers at area businesses. The program kicks off on Thursday, April 29 and the daily collections at the schools will
run through Tuesday, May 11. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be split between the Auburn-Washburn Public Schools Foundation and the participating
schools. Cards are available from any student at Auburn-Washburn's elementary schools or Washburn Rural Middle School.
On April 21 the Auburn-Washburn Public Schools Foundation held its Ninth Annual Spring Breakfast.
Auburn-Washburn Superintendent Dr. Brenda Dietrich delivered her "State of the District" message and
there were musical performances by district students. At the event Dr. Dietrich announceed the
implementation of a new privately funded pilot program at Washburn Rural High School. Proceeds from the

Q: What is the Auburn-Washburn Public Schools Foundation and how did it form?
A: Early in 1996, a group of parents from the 437 School District began meeting to explore a common
vision: to create a non-profit organization to support educational programs in the 437 school district. This vision
became reality with the incorporation of the Auburn-Washburn Public Schools Foundation in October 1997.
Q: What is the purpose of the Foundation?
A: The purpose of the foundation is to provide an alternative means to enhance, enrich, and expand
educational programs for our district youth not otherwise available though normal district funding. Our mission is
to help ensure that the highest quality educational experience is provided to the youth, family, and patrons of our district.
Q: What is the makeup of the Foundations' Board of Directors?
A: According to the Bylaws, the Board of Directors will consist of up to 18 members. These include
businessmen and women, lawyers, educators, technicians, fundraisers, and parents from all corners of the district.
These people have invested their time, resources, and talents toward enriching the educational climate of our community.
